Sisi Reid
"When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” - Audre Lorde
Sisi Reid, an arts educator from Maryland, is our next highlight! With her vibrant personality, genuine passion for the arts, and infectious energy, Reid lights up the classroom and leads engaging lessons that embody the Lo-Fi spirit.
An experienced theater artist, Reid is skilled in “poetry, acting, writing, directing, devising, singing, and dancing.”
Reid’s inspiration are her mother, Shonda Rhimes, Issa Rae, Sweet Honey in The Rock, Audre Lorde, Prince, and Ntozake Shange.
“I am inspired by the journey of reclaiming and remembering that Black Americans are African, learning about Black history and how Black people continue to both survive and thrive, nature; trees and oceans specifically, travel - time travel & global travel, my healing journey, Black Queer storytelling, young people, and games,” Reid said.
Having considered pursuing a TEFL certification for years, Reid applied to the Lo-Fi program to combine her love of art with teaching.
“I am always looking for ways to incorporate art and creativity to empower people,” Reid said. “I want to expand my opportunities to work and live abroad.”
